Ineke Koele: 'Familiebedrijven vergen een bredere dan de traditionele juridische aanpak'

Er zijn in ons land ongeveer 260.000 familiebedrijven, goed voor meer dan de helft van de werkgelegenheid.Het overdragen van deze bedrijven op nieuwe familieleden is daarom van groot belang. Advocaat Ineke Koele staat veel vermogende families bij.

"Veel adviseurs komen met standaard oplossingen, voor bijvoorbeeld opvolging, waar familiebedrijven niet altijd op zitten te wachten", zegt Koele. "Het probleem is dat 70 procent van alle juridische plannen mislukken."

Slechte communicatie of familiebanden zijn vaak de boosdoeners. "Zachte factoren" noemt Koele dat. Ze noemt het failliete busbedrijf Oad als voorbeeld van een bedrijf waar dat mis is gegaan. "Emoties spelen een hele belangrijke rol bij de rol van een jurist in een familiebedrijf."

Ineke A. Koele (1967) is a lawyer and a tax attorney that is unique in the Netherlands in her specialist focus in providing integrated tax and legal services to Private Clients and Charitable organizations.
She has been a partner of a larger Dutch law firm for 12 years, before she started KoelePC in 2010. Ineke is a regular speaker on (international) private clients matters and on challenges of charities, trusts and private foundations. She publishes regularly in both Dutch and international periodicals.

Based on her work and reputation, Ineke was honoured in 2011 as leading Dutch Trust and Estate Attorney by Legal Media Group and as recommended Private Client lawyer by the Practical Law Company.

She obtained her PhD in 2007 on a dissertation on International taxation of philanthropy, a comparative survey of US, German and Dutch law systems that aims to solve the still existent tax barriers on international philanthropy (IBFD, Amsterdam, ISBN 978 90 87220211). Ineke has an extensive network of peers in many countries and is an active member of various professional organizations, such as the International Bar Association, the Society of Trust and Estate Planning (STEP) and Philanthropy Impact.

She is also part of 'invite only' expert meetings such as the the Wealth Advisors Forum, a group of 44 leading Private Client lawyers gathered from Europe, the US and Asia who advise wealthy families on the structuring and protection of their estates around the world and the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law. In addition, Ineke is part of the group of teachers at the postdoctoral LLM program 'Wealth Management' of the University of Münster.
